UI's coming along nicely Nick...how close do you think you are to it being "done"?

TBH, the new UI more closely resembles Caith's new one she has out. Mostly b/c I used her most recent UI and haphazardly threw in 10 or so addons I find helpful in PvE. In all honesty, I think Caith UI is more of a pvp UI anyways, its amazing what you can do with it in that respect. Its not bloated and only has the bare essentials, assuming people will add their own addons etc.
The coolest feature about it now is a new addon called Reflux. It has no configurable options, its simply a command that allows you to change all of your Ace/Curse addons Profiles simultaneously. So instead of the lengthy install procedures of my last UI, you simply unzip, rename a few folders, copy into wow directory, and start the game.
/reflux switch CaithUI
UI will reload, and everything is perfect. It comes with DBM installed, so for the moment I'm using that, for the first time in 3 years. A few that I couldn't live without however were:
-Classtimer
-Omen
-Eavesdrop
-sexycooldown
-mapster
-gearscore?lololol
I know most people consider the coolest part about Caith UI to be the dot timers using PowerAuras. I have a problem with this. When I first installed this, I knew nothing about PowerAuras. Midgeyy was surprised when I told him I used it as a dot timer because it has problems calculating hasted dots when your paper doll # changes. Didn't notice anything at first, but after an entire ICC25, you notice all the time when your timer on the dot expires but the power aura is still up showing your debuff is still applied to the boss. You need a precise dot timer to play a dot class well, and PowerAuras just isn't good in that respect. Perhaps for PvP, it doesn't matter so much and the increased visibility from the PowerAura VT/SWP/DP vs Classtimer's is preferable.
TLDR: I just got home from work, and I started typing this message at 4:21 Post Meridian Central Daylight Time. Thanks Guys. Bai.

Nick I actually find one of your statements really fascinating, because UI design is what I do for a living. You say Caith UI is more of a PvP interface anyway, and since I know you've played at the top of both PvE and PvP, what makes for a good PvP interface as opposed to a PvE interface? Obviously there are add-ons that are going to be more useful (or less) in either style of play, but in general, I'd really be interested in hearing your thoughts...

I know what Nick means about PVE and PVP UI.. Basically with a PVE interface you want to be able to see the ground, so like if a fire appears or blizzard.. Differentiating between healer and DPS.. Healers can pretty much key bind everything and have unit frame addons along with boss cooldowns. I feel a simple healing interface made me die less, that's me though and I'm easy to distract. DPS is different because the user interface part is going to be your less needed addon. Cooldown timers along with boss timers is needed, other then that most addons are for show. Like I said I'm easily distracted..
PVP on the other hand, you want to be able to see the whole arena, along with their cooldowns and buffs. Also your CD's have to be easily visible because you're going to make decisions based on what you have up. So overall PVP will be less cluttered
