Another great video Effi. Why aren't you a vid producer instead of a pharmacist?? OK, well I kinda know why, but really...
And very sad about Last Resort. I drew a lot of ideas from them when starting Ashes of Al'ar. Back then all I really knew was Fury and I had to scour sites looking for ideas of how to run a raid guild. LR did it right and it sucks to see them call it a day. But I can understand...

yeah man, I was really surprised to see Banai's post on their website last week.
Kerp's videos that he made for Last Resort back in the day were the best. Surely everyone remembers lr's Kel'Thuzad video from vanilla wow. Kerp said the worst part was the two weeks of frapsing bosskills it took to make the intro. Two weeks of his life on making an intro for one boss, just fucking ridiculous. I remember the Magtheridon, Tempest Keep and SSC videos all the way up through BT/Sunwell, all top notch.
Kerp used a lot of Rise Against, which happens to be my favorite band lol if you couldn't guess. Idk if this song is actually on the CD or not, I thought it was a b side from Appeal To Reason, its called Elective Amnesia.

Regardless, sick video, someday I'll actually fraps something <;,,;>

Kerp's Magtheridon video (world 3rd I think?) was my first exposure to what a raid would be like - I think I discovered it soon after I joined Fury; Cardrel and I were trying to push that guild beyond having like four Kara groups a week. It looked so epic and he did a spectacular job with the camera angles and such.
I did some "frapsing" of some of Fury's and AoA's kills - the Mac client has video recording built right in - but never had the time to really put it all together into a real video, even though I have Final Cut and other software easily available.
You should try doing something semi-narrative, like that quite nice half-hour "Ulduar: The Movie"...

And no point really in you paying for vid hosting - I am sure AT's site hosting has terabytes of bandwidth per month as part of its basic package.
We should probably figure out how to work that lulz

Lets do this. I actually have all our videos from like, the last 3 years uploaded to our FTP site, I just don't know how to make links to it, and stuff.
Like Vek, I can do all the flash coding and stuff to make the video player, and encode the video in a flash video format for the player, its all jokes easy with Adobe Flash CS4.
I just honestly don't know how to link stuff to the location of the file on the ftp server, like I can't just type it the ftp://ftp.aksdglkjsdagnkjdfgnlk.com/dkfgjnldkafjgn blah w/e in Flash and have it play that, since the ftp needs a pw and stuff.
Call me stupid....but I honestly only ever took programming classes....even java didn't have anything to do with html and stuff really lol.

It's not hard at all - DreamHost offers unlimited bandwidth for new customers - not sure how much atakama has but my personal account offers 15 TB/month free so I'm guessing it's somewhere between 15TB and unlimited. They will even do the video encoding (btw - encode both Flash and H.264 - Flash doesn't work on the iPhone and who doesn't want to just know how cool it would be to be watching an AT video on their iPhone).
Just need to get the account control login info from Irie again - that may actually be the hardest part of the equation! We can go ahead and set up a videos forum (like the news forum that you moderate) where the vids will reside permanently - I will look into that this week.

I always use H.264 when I encode any video so thats already done. Should I make like, multiple flash versions though?
Like should I make one appx 550 pixels in width for the front page? or do you think it has some kind of scaling feature built in? So I could just encode it in the standard 720p/1080p flv/f4v codec and it could be scaled down automatically by the player? need to look into that I guess.

This is the media player that is built in to the hosting package:
http://media.dreamhost.com/
You can read a bit on it while I work on getting things set up.

that looks like what we need
So I'd like to be able to make a post with some text and stuff about the video or w/e
then have the player with the video stream under the text
and have a link to the full download under that.
So we'd have the .flv version of the video for the stream and the h.264/.mp4 file for download in full resolution.
I'm pretty sure Adobe Flash will write us some sick code for a better looking player than that one too, i'll upload what I have here in a bit, encoding the video takes awhile.
