Raid Schedule

During progression periods, Acquired Taste schedules raids four days a week: Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 7.00p to 11.30p server time (Akama is a Central time zone server). A Monday raid may be added to the schedule at the discretion of the officers. If you cannot make these raid times, do not apply.

Gear Requirements

All applicants are expected to have the best possible gear they can obtain. Therefore you should be not be wearing a PVP belt if you can have something better made. We are looking for min-max players who would do whatever it takes to obtain any advantage for progression. All of your gear should be enhanced with the best possible enchants and gems to maximize your potential performance. The amount of effort you've put in to your character will be a factor in how we judge your application.

Note: Do not apply if you are way undergeared. We are not here to gear you to our level.

How to apply

Create a thread in our Recruitment forum with both your name and class/spec in the subject. Use the Application Template as the format for your application.

Please do not ask us about your application in game, doing so will severely reduce your chance of getting in.

Very Important: If you are a transfer or faction change applicant: do not transfer unless Iriemember or Efficacy informs you of your acceptance.

Please allow 1-3 weeks for us to go over your application. If we do not respond to you within a reasonable amount of time, consider yourself denied. If we decide to contact you for a trial or further questions, a response to your application will either be posted in the thread of the application itself, or sent to you in a private message on these forums. Please check both early and often. Please do not contact us in game about your application.

Since we've had a few applications of late that were so bad as to cause Effi to bring out the "Denied" hammer as a reflex reaction, I thought it would be good to refresh memories as to what is expected from applicants.

If you're thinking of applying, read this. Memorize it. Carefully consider the consequences of applying without understanding whether you're Acquired Taste material. If you're top-notch and meet all these requirements, you'll fit right in. If not, don't waste the officers' time.

What is expected of all applicants:

1. Total dedication to the guild and raiding. In other words, if you're even slightly torn between pushing raid progression and, say, getting 2500 rating or leveling your alt, don't bother applying. Being a top progression guild requires complete dedication.

2. During content farming we often only raid one day a week, but during progression you should be available 4-5 evenings a week, plus possible PTR scheduling. If your play schedule doesn't match up with our raid schedule, you're almost certainly not going to be considered, much less accepted.

3. Emo QQ is not tolerated at all. If your main focus is loot or you can’t handle sitting out of raids sometimes, then this is not the right guild for you. Sometimes certain compositions will be better and you simply won’t get a spot. We expect you to play for the guild and its progress above all else.

4. Complete knowledge of your class, how to gear and spec it. This means being able to adapt to new situations and goes beyond just reading theorycrafting and knowing what the right gems are. It's something that we expect people to have put a lot of thought into so their character can be the best it can be.

5. Top-notch raid performance is a must. This means you must be experienced in high-end raid content and able to play your class to perfection. People who repeatedly die to the same mistakes and perform sub-par compared to the rest of the guild will be mocked mercilessly and then kicked.

6. Have a competitive nature both on a guild vs. guild level and an internal level. You will have to earn your raid spot and show that you are the best person for the job. You must be confident in what you are doing and want to show that you can do it better than anyone else.

7. Have a laid back attitude towards your guild mates. You must be able to take a certain level of abuse and jokes from your peers. If you're hypersensitive and can't take a few jokes at your expense, you're not going to last long.

8. You must be able to take sometimes extremely harsh criticism and improve from it. You will make mistakes, everyone does. It's important that you will learn from them, not make them again and respect the criticism you take.

9. You must be fluent in English, both written and spoken. You must also have a microphone and Ventrilo and not be afraid to use it when required.

10. Be over 18 years of age. Seriously.
